Well, to be honest about it: “Unconfirmed Reports” left much to be desired unto me. For with Detective McNulty going down the proverbial drain faster than he can find the bottom of a half-pint of Jamieson’s, and Omar getting nothing more than merely a dishonorable mention: I was somewhat disappointed in this episode to say the least.
Oh no, this is not at all to say that it would be a waste of time to see the show. For it does have its moments; and the hissy-fit thrown by State Senator Clay Davis in Police Commissioner Ervin Burrell’s office is worth the price of admission by itself.
Perhaps I am just expecting too much. For in this episode we are taught that Baltimore is not Aruba, mothers of four and innocent bystanders are always in the headlines for some tragic reason or another, statuesque blonds are not in the headlines so much anymore, neither are buxom ones, and a picture of TammieBeagle’s avatar hangs on a cubicle wall in the news room of at least "their" Baltimore Sun.
Well, I do have some questions about a couple of those points. For Paris Hilton is reportedly 5' 9", which is in the neighborhood of being statuesque by some standards, and Pamela Anderson is certainly buxom by any standard that I am aware of; but I suppose it all depends upon what page the headline is on unto much more sophisticated people than myself.
More importantly: this episode also does a good job of making it clear that the high cost of drug abuse is indeed great. For a dope-fiend’s death is so much more than merely a matter of heart-stoppage; and only those who truly want to believe that life is worth living have any hope of making it out alive (naturally-speaking, of course).
Speaking of such: there is the character of Waylon on the show; and the one playing the part is the real deal. For from the first time I saw him on Episode 7: it was made obvious unto me that the man was not acting.
No, I had no idea that it was Steve Earle at the time; and now that I do know: I stand in awe. For I absolutely love most of his music (especially Copperhead Road and I'm All-Right); but the amount of courage required to "step-up" and take a role like that after all that he has endured is something to truly be impressed with.

Loved the episode. McNulty's actions are pretty shocking, but the writers get every benefit of the doubt from me. I'm intrigued to see where they go with this.
In S1 we first see Omar in E3.
In S2 we first see Omar in E2.
In S3 we first see Omar in E3.
In S4 we first see Omar in E3.
Most likely we see Omar again in E3. So, I wouldn't bitch too much about this. However, how is it that Partlow will bring Omar out of retirement? I'm feeling a bit worried for Butchie.
That's certainly a disturbing thought about Butchie. For he is in the game; but I consider him to be one of the good guys: certainly better than most on either side.
Yes, all in all: it was a good episode. For everything that happens in it had to in order to promote the storyline; but I really hate it that McNulty has to go so far downhill after he was doing so well.
Perhaps they are setting us up for something truly glorious in the end??? I hope so.
Since I don't get HBO, I can't watch "The Wire." That's why I appreciate your updates.
Maybe, though, if my avatar WERE there, i would subscribe.... ;-)
Alas, my dear Tammie, alas. For there are literally billions in this world who are denied the wonders of watching "The Wire" because of global-warming; and since my updates are meant to encourage actual viewership of the show: a much more detailed synopsis is also required. An "officially-sanctioned" one can be found for this episode at: http://www.hbo.com/thewire/episode/season5/episode52.shtml.
Hello I just entered before I have to leave to the airport, it's been very nice to meet you, if you want here is the site I told you about where I type some stuff and make good money (I work from home): here it is
I find it to be in extremely poor taste to employ comments on blogposts solely for the purpose of selling something: especially when it has nothing to do with the subject matter.
Hi again, see tthis is the site i told you i signed up to. It has some nice information about how to make money using OPP, i think you might find it interesting. here it is. bye!
Just in case you did not get it before: please let me explain that the reply that I left about it being in extremely poor taste to leave comments solely for the purpose of selling something was directed at you, Ms. Michelen. For email spam is bad enough; but this is worse.
